Master Blender’s Selection No. 5 is the fifth release in Hennessy’s Master Blender’s Series of single-batch bottlings that will never be replicated. This year’s release was created by eighth-generation Master Blender, Renaud Fillioux de Gironde, and pays homage to the 18 families of distillers who are the bedrock of our supply and expertly craft exceptional eaux-de-vie -exclusively for Hennessy. Many of these families have ties to Hennessy that date back more than 200 years.
The Master Blender limited his selection of eaux-de-vie to those from the 18 families, of 800 passionate distillers that we work with. Then, he narrowed the selection to the highest-quality batches, those that he considered superior in quality. What’s interesting about MBS 5 is the unprecedented selection process.
Selecting at least one eaux-de-vie per family, Renaud blended their characters and personalities to create this inimitable cognac. This blend embodies a perfect harmony of the selected eaux-de-vie and reveals a powerful cognac on the palate with delicate nuances of cocoa, spices, and candied orange.
